We are at it again. We just closed on 136 acres right up the road from our sugarhouse. We are super excited about this new piece of property we now own. Plan is to install 4000-5000 taps this fall and truck it 1 mile to the sugarhouse. Before that happens we have a ton of work that will have to be done. We have a logger coming in to thin and open up the maples as soon as the ground dries from all of this rain we have had recently. Unfortunately, the forecast does not show that happening any time in the next week or so. While that is going on, we will be constructing 20x28 building to put our tanks, releaser, and new vacuum pumps in. As soon as the building is constructed we plan to get in the woods and install tubing. This will probably be a 2-3 month job for the two of us to complete in between bottling syrup and everything else. When winter arrives we will install our vacuum and releaser system. Just hope we can get everything completed before January!!
