Speaking of next year we have had a ton of stuff going on. Pictured below is what our new wood pellet/ woodfired evaporator looks like. We are super excited about this new evaporator as we will save thousands of dollars in oil costs, and be able to use a clean buring renewable resource. We have split 32 cords of wood from our own land that will give us enough firewood for two seasons. We have been logging a small section of woods behind the sugarhouse and opened 250 new taps. We will begin running some new tubing starting today. Another project has been to secure all of our mainlines to avoild any sags and vacuum/ freezing problems. We have also sent our releasers back to Canada to have submersible pumps installed on them. This will provide us with a fool proof releaser system that uses a submersible pump primarily, but if something malfunctioned they will still dump mechanically. We think this $4000 upgrade will pay for itself in the first season.
Check back soon.
