AAAAHHHHH, I wish. This winter just does not want to quit and the 14 day prediction still is calling for temps trending much below average. We have been using this past week to repair problems we found during last weeks run and boil. Problem is that we are about done with the repairs and are really ready for some spring weather. The plan now is to run 3 more mainlines and add about 200 taps while we wait. This is not all that different than last season which we had about a week of sugaring in the beginning of March then didn't really get going until around the 20th and the season turned out to be a great one so I would not worry too much. One thing is for certain, it will warm up and when it does we hopefully get slammed with sap. We just hope that it does not go from too cold to too warm. The warmer your sugarbush and the further south you are the more concerned I would be about that scenario since everyone in the maple world is froze up not just the colder areas.
It looks like there will be a couple days above freezing this weekend, and depending on your elevation, location, and how much sunshine we get with it,. some or all of us could get a bit of sap. Where we are in Underhill I don't expect much at all. Unfortunately it looks like it will cool right back off next week... Lets hope that the forecast changes for the better between then and now.
